I enjoy listening to podcasts and audiobooks.  I often listen to them while doing tasks around my home, cleaning, yard work, cooking and sewing. For me, they are a great way to learn new things and to stay informed about what is going on in the world around me.  Here are some of my favorites:

  • Knowing Faith: Three Bible teachers, Jen Wilkin, J.T. English and Kyle Woorley discuss biblical and theological issues.  This season they have been answering listener questions on various topics. A recent episode talked about various views on burial vs cremation.  I love the banter between the hosts and appreciate the fact that they don’t always agree.  It is a great example of how we as Christians can be faithful to the Word of God and yet hold different views.

  • Women of the Word: This is a 3 season podcast with Bible teacher Jen Wilkin and it is based on  her book by the same name. The focus of this podcast is Bible literacy —teaching women how to go beyond a simple “Quiet Time” reading of Scripture to studying scripture for yourself/

  • Russell Moore Podcast:This podcast usually features a conversation with a well known person, sometimes a Bible teacher or an author.  Usually they are Christians, but not always.  I enjoyed his interview with Jonathan Haidt (author of “The Anxious Generation) who is not a Christian. They interacted without anger or animosity, just good intellectual conversation,

  • The Deep Dish: This is a Gospel Coalition Podcast for women.  Bible teachers Melissa Krueger and Courtney Doctor discuss a variety of topics from a spiritual perspective.  I find the hosts very down to earth and practical.

  • The History Chicks: This is not a Christian podcast, but is worth listening to if you enjoy history. They discuss notable women throughout history. The conversations are respectful when discussing delicate topics, and will give a notice if they are going to discuss something that isn’t fit for younger or sensitive listeners.  As we all know, history can sometimes be a bit gritty, but these women make it interesting and they handle sensitive topics with finesse.
